What Your ATV Convoy Sees That the Brimstone Hill Bus Tour Does Not
Brimstone Hill Fortress from a bus window, or from the cane trails it was built to guard? What an 869ATVentures convoy sees that a highlights bus tour does not.

You have seen the videos. Mud spraying off the back wheels, a convoy winding through cane fields, everybody grinning under their helmets. And if you have never driven an ATV before, a small voice is asking the obvious question: can I actually do that?
Yes, you can. No experience is needed on our ATV tours, and you do not have to have sat on a four wheeler before the day you arrive. Here is what your first ATV tour in St. Kitts feels like, start to finish.
Our base sits at Wingfield Rainforest, Old Road, in the island’s heritage corridor near Romney Manor and Wingfield Estate. Get there 15 minutes before your departure. If you are coming from Port Zante, it is roughly a 20 to 25 minute taxi ride.
One of our guides meets you when you arrive. These are native Kittitians who were born and raised on this island, and the first thing most first timers notice is how relaxed they are. That calm is on purpose. They ride these trails with new riders all the time, and it rubs off.
Then comes the gear. We hand out helmets, goggles and bandanas. You bring closed shoes and clothes you do not mind getting muddy. If you are still deciding what to pack, our what to wear guide covers it, including why the white outfit should stay on the ship.
Before anyone starts an engine, your guide walks you through a full safety briefing on how the ATV works. Throttle, brakes, steering, how to sit, how the convoy moves and what the hand signals mean. Ask anything. There are no silly questions here, and the guides would much rather answer them on the ground than on the trail.
Single riders take a Honda FourTrax Recon and double riders take a FourTrax Rancher. The ATV Adventure is rated beginner to advanced, so you will be riding alongside people at every level.
This is the part first timers remember. After the briefing you ride a familiarization session on our practice course. You get a feel for the throttle, try a few turns and test the brakes at your own pace while a guide watches and coaches.
Something clicks during those few minutes. The machine stops feeling like a stranger. Your shoulders drop. The convoy does not roll out until everyone has the hang of it, so nobody gets rushed onto the trail before they are ready.
Then the convoy moves. A guide leads out front and another sweeps behind, so you always have someone ahead of you showing the line and someone behind you keeping an eye on the group. You ride your own machine, but you never ride alone.
The trails are the old sugarcane field routes that run estate to estate along this side of the island. At first most riders stare at the ground right in front of their wheels. Then they look up, and that is when the tour really starts.
Our ATV Adventure gives you first hand views you cannot get from a road:
Along the way the convoy pulls over at photo stops. These are the pictures that end up on your fridge back home.
Yes, you will get dirty. That is half the fun. Light rain usually makes the trails more fun too, and if weather ever makes riding unsafe, we contact you to reschedule or make it right. The first puddle is the one everybody worries about. By the third, most first timers are aiming for them.
The tour runs about three hours. By the end, the rider who was nervous in the briefing is usually the one asking where the next trail goes. People climb off with mud on their arms, a phone full of photos and stories from the guide who grew up on these trails. Want to know who might be leading your convoy? Meet Shomari, one of the native Kittitian guides who rides with our guests.
Rather have a steering wheel and a seat next to your crew? The Side by Side Safari takes passengers from age 1. Compare every ride on our tours page.
Every rider on the trail had a first time once.
Let’s go on an #ATVenture and Make Memories TOGETHER.
